Okay, so I made this for my mom for Mothers day, and didn’t post it online anywhere because it’s always felt like such a niche thing my whole life. Like, none of my friends had ever heard of these until my mom and I made them for them? But anyway! This is adapted from a recipe card from my great gramma! This is what I grew up making and eating, though I understand there are bunch of different variations! Please share some of your own!

Here’s the comic I made last year! I think this year I’ll draw a comic of the Strawberry Shortcake my mom makes all the time *w* It’s one of my favorite deserts~~

Don’t know if you’re aware of it, but it’s actually a sweet from Denmark. Something of a christmas tradition that everyone knows here. We all it them, they’re even in the cantinas and are sold on street corners in December. In danish it’s æbleskiver, which basically means appleslices, because originally they were made with small slice of apple in the middle. We don’t do that anymore though :)
ps. The æ is one of three letters that only exists in the danish alphabet. (æ, ø, å)

Yeah! My Grandparents and Great Grandparents were very traditionally Danish and this was definitely a tradition we observed each year~ In the area in Michigan they live in now there’s an annual Danish Fest and my grandfather used to be in charge of the big æbleskiver booth *w*
I wish I had as many cool food traditions from my dad’s Irish heritage as my mom’s Danish background Q_Q
